A groomin' party is for the guys. It's an opportunity to get together (pre-wedding) and enjoy a traditional face shave.

What is a "signature straight razor face shave?"
A classic barbershop service. Hot lather and towels soften and prepare your beard. Mug and brush whipped lather is applied and then your whiskers are removed with a straight razor. More hot towels followed by hot towels and facial wash. FInished with cold towels and moisturizing cream.

The more the merrier, we have plenty of room! Each additional shave/clean up is $45. If some extra buddies are just coming to hang out - we can work with you - just let us know what you are thinking.

Where do I park?
In downtown Des Moines, the meters are free after 6 pm and on the weekends. Honestly, that is when we expect most of you will schedule your groomin' party. That makes parking easy. The entire block surrounding the Des Moines Building is metered. Most likely you will be able to pull up right in front of the building.
Should your wedding party be scheduled during business hours, you can expect personalized communication so that parking does not cause you any concern.
The groomin' party is one of those events that naturally evolved. Scott Sales, Master Barber and Owner of the Executive Forum Barbershop was conducting business as usual when guys started calling - looking for a face shave. Scott added traditional hot lather face shaves to his menu of services and is one of the few barbershops in Des Moines that offers this service.Then Chip Saltsman (campaign chairman for presidental canditate Mike Huckabee) had all the guys on the campaign staff come in for face shaves before the Iowa straw poll. That was the first shave party. Soon, Scott started getting calls for guys getting a face shave pre-wedding. "That first "groomin" party was a lot of fun." says Scott. "It was cool to be a part of the bonding experience between the guys. I think it's a great way for the guys to bond and relax before a wedding."A hot lather face shave, a clip or trim (Scott recomends that you get your haircut 2 weeks before the wedding) will have you looking sharp for the great event. Hanging out with your best buddies will create a memory for a lifetime.
